How to Find Your True USP as an online Coach or Healer
what is a usp
Your USP is your Unique Selling Proposition and was coined by Rosser Reeves in the 1940s. Bringing this term into the 2020s and making it relevant to personal brands and service-based businesses such as coaching, healing and mentoring, we’re talking not just about how UNIQUE you are, but how that uniqueness makes your work AMAZING.
It’s a journey of uncovering how you are different, special, and (dare I say it), better than other coaches doing a similar thing to you. I use the terminology of being a Unique Expert - positioning yourself as an expert in the thing you are uniquely brilliant at.
This blog will show you how you can find your true USP (Unique Magic) as that’s the first step. Once you know, you have to infuse your whole business with it; from your offers, your niche, your ideal client, your prices, and your messaging. But it’s all tough to do alone, so I’m here to help you.
WHY Discover your usp
If you're rather generic-sounding or a generalist coach, mentor or healer, you're not alone in struggling to stand out online. It has got harder!
Uncovering your UNIQUE MAGIC is key to your soul-aligned, stand-out niche, being seen as the expert you are and attracting premium clients paying premium prices.
Here are some reasons:
stand out from the crowd
create your own unique IP
get known as an expert
feel more fulfilled doing your soul work
charge higher prices
more effective marketing
attract premium clients
make more revenue
Because if you’re blending in as a generic or generalist coach, mentor or healer, you’ll get lost in the online noise and left behind.
HOW to discover your USP
By knowing yourself deeply, & having the courage to be it.
It can be hard to really see and know what your unique gifts, skills and MAGIC are. You’re too close to it!
Journal on each question below to get insights on what your unique magic is.
However, not every answer is an ingredient in your unique magic potion.
Look for the common thread that connects the pieces together.
journal prompts
Your Why: What is your main reason you do the work you do, or the work you want to do? What drives you on a deeper level?
Your Values: What are your core values in life and business?
Your Story: What experiences have led you to this point, doing what you do?
Your Passions: What do you care about, or what issue do you see that really needs solving? What could you talk about passionately for hours?
Your Skills: What do you find so easy you think everyone can do it or it’s common sense? Don’t devalue your natural skills!
Your Mastery: What are you doing when you’re in flow and it feels almost effortless? What are your strengths?
Your Difference: How are you different to others doing a similar thing? What makes you special? (tough one, I know)
Your Client Results: What transformations have you helped clients achieve?
Beware! If you’ve had a lot of different kinds of results that doesn’t mean you have to help everyone with everything, it just means you’ve been attracting a lot of different people.
It’s OK if you:
found this hard
are no clearer
got blocked
There are usually internal blocks to knowing and owning what makes you different and special - it’s triggering.
If you want to;
own your unique magic
get known as an expert
stand out, not blend in
use your uniqueness as your soul-aligned niche
charge more & make more revenue
